We are pleased to announce the release of Denwer SE (Second Edition) version 1.3.3. Moving completely away from the old Perl legacy of the classic «Denwer 3», the project continues to evolve as an independent, modern Python-based control panel for managing Apache, PHP, and MySQL/MariaDB environments on Windows.
The major highlight of the 1.3.x branch is a comprehensive overhaul and visual redesign of the graphical user interface.
What's New in Version 1.3.3:
- Graphical PNG Icons: Outdated Unicode text symbols have been completely removed from the interface, buttons, and menus — replaced by modern, crisp, colored PNG icons.
- Pixel-Perfect Grid: The version selector dropdowns (
selectbox) for PHP and DBMS are now perfectly aligned with the adjacent settings buttons within the panel's layout. - Smart Window Resizing: Information cards («Server», «Database», «SSL», «Utilities») now have a fixed vertical constraint. When resizing the main window, only the log output section expands, keeping the layout clean and organized.
- Improvements & Fixes: Key configuration buttons have been renamed for clarity («db-denwer.conf» and «Install root CA»), localized catalog search pathing inside the compiled application has been fixed, and a bug causing minor translation overwrites has been resolved.
Key Features from Recent 1.3.x Updates:
- Built-in Task Scheduler (cron) [v1.3.2]: A full-featured background service to execute local PHP scripts, system commands, and HTTP GET requests. Features an interactive management GUI and streams real-time job execution outputs directly into the main log window.
- Database Management GUI [v1.3.1]: A new gear icon (
⚙) next to the database list opens a dedicated dialog window to tweak critical parameters indb-denwer.conf(e.g., connection limits, encodings,max_allowed_packet,sql_mode, andinnodb_buffer_pool_size).
System Requirements: Starting with version 1.2.8, the control panel is compiled using Python 3.8 x64 and targets Windows 7 SP1 or newer (including Windows 8/8.1, 10, and 11). For older environments, the
install/directory included in the distribution pack contains all the required KB updates and VC++ runtime components.
How to Update the Denwer SE Panel (e.g., from 1.2.8+):
To update the control panel in your existing local environment, simply copy the executable file DenwerSE.exe and the denwer utility folder from the new distribution archive and paste them with replacement into the root folder of your installed stack (where your home and usr folders are located).
All of your existing websites, databases, configs (usr/configuration.txt), and custom settings will remain completely intact.
